Chocolate Avocado Smoothie

Ingredients

  • 1 ripe avocado pitted and scooped
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder or cacao powder for a richer flavor
  • 1 frozen banana this is key for sweetness and a thick, cold texture
  • 1 cup of your preferred milk almond, oat, or dairy all work
  • 1-2 tablespoons of a sweetener maple syrup, honey, or a pitted date
  • 1 scoop chocolate or vanilla protein powder optional, but highly recommended
  • A handful of ice if your banana isn’t frozen
  • Pinch of salt to make the chocolate flavor pop

Instructions

  • Add the liquid (milk) to your blender first.
  • This prevents everything else from getting stuck.
  • Scoop in the avocado flesh, followed by the cocoa powder and your chosen sweetener.
  • Break the frozen banana into chunks and add it to the mix. Toss in the protein powder and pinch of salt.
  • Blend on high until the mixture is completely smooth and has a thick, milkshake-like consistency. If it’s too thick, add a splash more milk.
  • Too thin? Add another ice cube or two.
  • Pour into a glass and consume immediately for the best texture and experience.
