Preheat and prep.
Heat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a baking dish and place the chicken breasts inside. Pat them dry—this helps flavor stick, FYI.
Season the chicken.
Sprinkle both sides with salt, pepper, paprika, and Italian seasoning. Don’t be stingy—this is the flavor foundation.
Make the sauce.
In a pan over medium heat, melt butter and sauté garlic for about 30 seconds. Add cream cheese and stir until melted and smooth.
Cream it up.
Pour in the cream (or milk) and stir until silky. If using Parmesan, add it now and let it melt into the sauce like a dream.
Pour and bake.
Pour the garlic cream cheese sauce over the chicken. Bake uncovered for 30–35 minutes, until chicken is cooked through and the sauce is bubbly.
Rest and serve.
