Prep Time5 minutes
Total Time5 minutes
Servings: 2 servings

Ingredients

  • 1 cup frozen strawberries (whole or sliced)
  • 1 medium ripe banana (fresh or frozen, sliced)
  • 2 scoops vanilla ice cream (about 1 cup)
  • ½ to 3/4 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy), plus more as needed
  • 1–2 teaspoons honey or maple syrup (optional, to taste)
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract (optional, boosts the vanilla flavor)
  • Pinch of salt (optional, enhances sweetness)
  • Ice cubes (optional, for extra thickness if using fresh fruit)
  • Fresh strawberries or banana slices for garnish (optional)
  • Whipped cream and sprinkles (optional, for a sundae-style finish)

Instructions

  • Prep the fruit: If the banana is fresh, slice it. For an extra thick smoothie, use a frozen banana and frozen strawberries.
  • Add liquids first: Pour 1/2 cup milk into the blender. This helps the blades catch the ingredients smoothly.
  • Layer the rest: Add frozen strawberries, banana, vanilla ice cream, vanilla extract, and a small pinch of salt.
  • Blend until smooth: Start on low, then increase to high for 30–45 seconds. If it’s too thick, add a splash of milk. If it’s too thin, add a few ice cubes or more frozen fruit.
  • Taste and sweeten: Blend in honey or maple syrup if you want it sweeter. Ripe bananas often add enough sweetness on their own.
  • Serve right away: Pour into chilled glasses. Garnish with whipped cream, fresh fruit, or a sprinkle of granola for crunch if you like.
